this ep was the result of a 6 hour music making marathon i never expected to happen. on my day off, i had no idea what to do when i just found out the tubes in my amp were shot. i decided to record something with this little casio i got at the thrift shop near me for 10$.

this little thing was only able to play two notes at a time (which presented the most fun challenge for me). it also did not have a line out so i could plug it directly into my mixer. so i decided to put my mic to its little 0.5 watt speaker, and record into my 4-track cassette recorder.

from there i experimented with the foot-long keyboard and tried to see what cool sounds i could get from it. low and behold, it had some of the coolest samples out of my other casio keyboards. its a shame i cant plug it in anywhere so i could use it for shows. however, what i ended up recording in those 6 hours became some of my favorite little jams. simply because of the experiments with mic placement, the sound bank, its two note polyphony, and of course multitrack recording.

all these ideas just grew upon one another after another, track after track. there were many retakes when i finally found a groove i liked, but what resulted was a nice and loose sounding improv session. each track took around an hour, and each one encompassed how i was feeling at each time.

this was a bunch of fun to record because i got to push myself with a new challenge, especially with this being my first album using my 4-track cassette recorder. yes this album might sound amateurish, but thats part of the fun, finding my way around the wavelengths that present themselves before me and turning it into music.
