This EP was birthed from December 22nd, the day after the shortest day of the year, a day where every day after December 21st (the shortest day of the year) would be longer than the last.

This was created as a self reflection on the past winters of seasonal depression exacerbated by the already existing depression and growing anxiety, as many people do. It was me writing lyrics about growth and change in my mid-late 20s (again), dealing with the first two years of being a teacher and the insane stress that comes from it.

Together in Pieces is simply about coming back together after a long winter, but you don't feel like how you were before winter, you've changed. Like a broken pot that has been glued back together, I came back together, but I'm in pieces. I am still the same Luke, but I've been put back together differently. The motif that occurs in almost every song, "Come back together, together in pieces. Cycle together, together in pieces", is about the continuous cycle of change and chaos that occur every winter season. It is how I come back stronger emotionally and mentally, still in shambles, but nonetheless together. Together in pieces.
